About Michaelangelo

I am a Reno native with over 30 years of building roots and growing my family here. I am a first generation product of immigrants who chose Reno as their home when they moved away from their homeland of the Philippines Islands.

After graduating high school, I attended the University of Nevada, Reno originally studying Secondary Education with a focus in English. I switched to Business Administration and recently returned to school to study Organizational Leadership Development at Ashland University.

I am a certified HR Professional (SHRM-CP) and Trainer (CHT). I have spent the last 6 years in Human Resources / Learning & Development. Prior to that, I was a property manager overseeing the building and renovation of multiple communities in South Reno. These properties include Harvest at Damonte Ranch, Latitude 39 Apartments, and the Element Apartments.

I have served on the Board of Directors for our local IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) chapter, NVSAA (Nevada State Apartment Association), and the local American Red Cross. In those capacities, I have chaired DEI, Education, and Young-Professional Networking committees. I have also fundraised for local non-profits such as the Eddy House, Children’s Cabinet, Step2, and Northern Nevada Hopes.

I was among the first to complete the inaugural class of Washoe County Leadership Academy where I learned from leaders across the county on the value of leadership and public service. I was also fortunate to participate in the revitalization of the Reno Constituent’s Institute which allowed me to hear from leaders across the city on how they operate and can be best served by the community.

Currently, I serve on the Washoe County Open Spaces and Regional Parks Commission as well as the Washoe County School District SHARE Advisory Committee. I work full-time as a Talent Development Consultant at Intuit and as a Paraeducator for JWood Raw Elementary School.

My wife and I have two wonderful boys who love our community - from our parks, to our libraries, to local events. My family and my love for public service drives me to be the next Reno City Councilperson and the first one to represent Ward 6. I’m a firm believer in community and would be honored to be the voice of my neighborhood.
